Happy Independence Day, friends! In honor of such a special day, we're taking some time to share our favorite Independence Day traditions with you.  We hope you spend the day taking time to slow down, relax, and enjoy precious time with the people you love!

Emily: We LOVE Independence Day over here. We talk to our kids about what Independence Day is all about (I think this is so important so that they understand the reason for the celebration!), grill hot dogs (I only eat hot dogs a few times a year and this is one of them!), and cut up a big watermelon. We usually have friends over and swim all day long!

Whitney: We love spending Independence Day with our family by the water! Pool, lake, beach - we aren't picky! We always make some delicious grilled food and shoot fireworks off in the evening.

Dusty: We always find the most obnoxious red, white and blue desserts to make! The crazier the better!

Hannah: I usually spend Independence Day on the beach with friends and family. After a day at the beach, we all get together for a cookout and watch fireworks to end the night. It will always be one of my favorite holidays!

Taylor: Our Independence Day is usually spent at my in-law's house by the pool. Our late lunch/dinner is usually grilled or smoked alongside a vinegar coleslaw and five-bean bake! Yum! When we make it back home, Brett and I usually sit on our back porch swing and watch the neighbor's fireworks over the trees.

Brittany: We love a good July 4th cookout! My husband is a great griller, so he typically makes burgers, brats, or ribs, and I'll make a few yummy side dishes, including this Three-Cheese Macaroni and Cheese dish. I also love an easy Red, White, and Blue dessert trifle--a layer of cubed angel food cake, then a layer of fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries, then a layer of whipped cream--add as many layers as your dish will fit!

Jessa: Getting together with family. We usually have a minimum of two places to hit up for food. Watching fireworks in the park as our hometown orchestra plays the soundtrack of Star Wars. It's the most amazing thing EVER.
