Hi ya’ll! I’m McKenzie – the Community Development Director here at Emily Ley! I’m the gal who gets to chat with each of you via email, Facebook, and my favorite… Instagram! (#DREAMJOB) I’ve been a member of the Emily Ley team for over a year now and it’s been an incredible adventure. In December I’ll be a proud graduate of Florida Southern College with a degree in Interpersonal & Organizational Communication (Go Mocs)! When I’m not working you can find me exploring Tampa with my sweet husband, blogging at Winsome & Gold, or planning our big move back to our hometown of Fernandina Beach!
What’s your favorite beauty secret?
Drink lots of water! It works wonders for your hair and skin! Also, always use primer. I love this one – super affordable, really light, and available at Target! (I love any opportunity to use my RedCard!)
What’s your favorite go-to outfit for a quick polished look?
I’m a big fan of pretty dresses with feminine waistlines. I’ve been wearing this dress with a skinny belt and wedges on repeat! As for jewelry, I love playing around with statement necklaces and dangly earrings but most days I’m sporting a monogram necklace and pearl studs.
What’s your favorite quick-prep dinner for your family?
Anything in the crockpot! It makes life SO much easier! I’m crazy about this Monkey Bread recipe.
Tell us your favorite at-home date night.
We love movies and dessert! We try to avoid Redbox (we forget to return far too often) but LOVE renting movies on Amazon Prime! Easy as pie.
Tell us your favorite Instagram account to follow and why.
Oh goodness! I spend SO much time on Instagram for work and pleasure so I’ve come to love quite a few IG accounts. My favorites are: @AspiringKennedy (she’s an American expat in London with two cute kiddos so I live vicariously through her European adventures) , @FashionableHostess (for pretty home decor and entertaining inspiration), @SouthernWeddings (because… they get me!) and @MackenzieHoran & @PencilShavings for a splash of color!
What tradition or routine is important to you?
My morning routine. While it’s always changing, I love enjoying a cup of coffee (in a cute mug of course!), reading my Bible or a good devotional, and then filling out my SP with a plan for the day!
What’s in your purse?
A pair of shades, my Simplified Planner, my iPhone, all of my husbands things, a few shades of lipstick, a notebook (in case I find blog inspiration or need to take meeting notes on the go), honest company healing balm (works for everything), and usually a bunch of random receipts and gum wrappers (if we’re being honest here)!
What’s your favorite on-the-go lunch during a busy day?
I LOVE smoothies. Smoothie King is my weakness.
What can you not leave home without?
A smile :)
