Hi there! I’m Kristin Wall, a momma to four kids, (two whom are married, and two who
are still at home!) and a grandma to two of the most beautiful babies ever! ;) Mimi’s can
be biased, right? :) My sweet husband of almost 25 years & I live in a rural area in
eastern Washington state surrounded by cherry orchards. I am the founder of Delight &
Be, a non-profit ministry for young women (ages 16-22) who are passionate about the
creative arts and using their gifts and talents for the Lord. I am blessed daily by working
with amazing young women! If you would have told me seven years ago that my life
would revolve around ministering to teen girls, I would have laughed at you! Now, I can’t
imagine anything more wonderful! The other hats that I wear on a daily basis include
being homeschool momma for 20 years and continuing to help my daughter run her
Wedding and Photography business, Lifesong Photography.
How do you take care of yourself so that you’re physically and mentally prepared to be your best self for your loved ones?
Truthfully, this is a huge challenge for me. The one thing I do on a regular basis is take a bubble bath before bed. It allows me to unwind & think back through the day & spend time in prayer!
What’s your favorite beauty secret?
In my 30’s I dealt with adult acne…for the first time in my life! I ended up falling in love with the Dermalogica Sensitive Skincare line!
What’s your favorite outfit for a quick, polished look?
I LOVE Fall & Winter! So during this time of year, I adore wearing my boots with a pair of leggings & a long, cozy sweater!
What’s your favorite quick-prep dinner for your family?
My boys absolutely love Beef Stroganoff. My hubby is gluten-free, so I make him brown rice while the rest of us enjoy it on pasta! It’s a quick easy meal that makes my boys feel loved & spoiled…a win-win!
Tell us your favorite Instagram account to follow, and why?
I personally love following along with Delight & Be’s Instagram account because I finally handed it over to an incredible Delight Girl & she is nailing it! I am so proud of what she’s doing with it… it’s creative, visually appealing & full of truth! Another account I love is @HouseOfBelonging. She donated an incredible sign to the Delight House which has quickly become my favorite part of the house!
What tradition or routine is important to you?
When I was a mom with young kids, the only place I could find to myself was the bathroom. So my bathroom is my favorite place to have my quiet times & devotions every morning. It’s become a sanctuary away from the noise. I always have a candle & soft praise music while I sit on the floor to read my bible, pray & journal.
What’s in your purse?
Gum, lip gloss, my wallet, my phone, too many pens, a bag of Trader Joe’s trail mix or dried mangoes, & usually a book I am reading (currently “Uninvited” By Lysa TurKerurst).
Where do you find your inspiration?
For visual inspiration, I love magazines like Cottage Hill, Deeply Rooted, Bella Grace. I also am inspired by scrolling through Instagram as I follow some incredibly talented photographers, graphic designers and amazing mommas! For content/word inspiration, I always have 3-4 different books I am reading!
We know you’re a busy lady! How do you balance all of your work responsibilities along with your home and personal life? Any tips for our readers?
This is a huge struggle for me. I probably spend 30-70 hours a week depending on the week working on Delight & Be. A non profit is more work than I could have ever envisioned. But seeing girls lives changed makes it all worthwhile. We also have a beautiful home called the Delight House where we host weekly gatherings for local girls and local women. Between local events, photography & faith-based workshops, bi-annual retreats, homeschooling, being a wife, mom & grandma, music lessons, sports, photography, etc. —the struggle is real! I am a list-maker. Every night before bed, I try to sit down & write out a to-do list with the “must-do’s” highlighted! I also spend a lot of time in prayer & pray for God to give me wisdom to know what is necessary and what is not! I also learned a few years ago that my husband’s love language is quality time. So a few times a week, I make sure that I carve out time in the evenings to watch a t.v. show with him. ..without the distractions of my phone or laptop!
What’s your favorite app (or other tool!) for helping you do life?
I couldn’t live without “Notes” on my phone. If something comes to mind, I write it there. If I see a quote I love, I copy/paste it. But my “must have” app is VOXER! I literally couldn’t do life very well without it!!! My leaders for Delight are all across the nation, so this is a perfect solution to our time zone differences.
