Why we do what we do here

I was working on a little something for our new Simplified Plannerâ„¢ release coming in June and I suddenly stopped, put my head in my hands and realized I was having a really hard time with the idea I was perusing. Everytime we make decisions here about the shop / blog, it’s important to us to remember WHY we do what we do. I started thinking about “mission statements” and awful corporate stuff like that and remembered something from one of our Making Brands Happen Webinars. Lara always shares the story of how The Sweet Tea Society was born. And I always find myself halfway choked up, halfway wanting to jump through the screen and high-five the Southern Weddings team when Lara reads the story of The Sweet Tea Society. Read it here. Be prepared to jump up and down. And, yes, I did plan my wedding around the SEC football schedule of 2008. LSU’s off weekend was October 18, 2008. I digress…

I decided it was time to put our reasons behind the shop down “on paper.” And so here it is. This is who we are and why we do what we do. We don’t design monogrammed things because monograms are fun (even though they are!). We don’t design planners because we think they’re cool (even though they are!) We’re much more purposeful and intentional than that. And so here it is. Happy weekend friends! Brady and I had a wonderful day at the zoo this morning with our friends!

xo,

Emily

PS: Only 10 (!!!!) seats remaining for the Making Things Happen 2013 Conference! So excited to meet the 90 men and women who are already signed up!

Emily, I’ve heard so many people speak on writing a mission statement, but could never do it myself. Reading yours helps me to see my business in a whole new light, and now I just might be able to clearly state why I do what I do in writing!

I LOVE this motto. I have never thought of monograms as a celebration of your family, and now adore that idea. I am SO excited to attend MTH and learn from your incredibly inspirational self! :)

Emily, your WHY is beautifully honest. Thank you for putting it out there for all to see!
