WIN TWO 2012 SIMPLIFIED PLANNERS – for you + a friend!

The 2012 Simplified Planners are HERE! They are gorgeous if I may say so myself! I’m so thrilled to share these photos of my own planner here along with a contest to win TWO 2012 Planners to be given away on New Years Eve (one for you, one for a friend!)

I like to think I’m an “early adopter” of everything techy – I am always looking for solutions to make life easier and many times those are computer based. But after trying to manage an iCal for years (and finding it frustratingly easy to ignore) I decided I’m just a paper and pencil planner type of girl. But I couldn’t use just any planner – they weren’t pretty – so I didn’t want to carry them everywhere, oddly small and hard to write in and included a lot of features I just didn’t need.

I designed the Simplified Planner to “have” everything other planners don’t have and some of the best features of planners I’ve used in the past. As a Mom, I love how pretty and functional these features are, and as a business woman, I love how organized and structured these features help me balance many plates spinning in the air at once.

Personalized Cover: I absolutely love this cover. It’s pretty, personalized and simple. The colors are bright and fresh (seven to choose from!)

Spiral bound: Some of the prettiest planners I’ve used have been “perfect bound” meaning they have a nice flat binding. Pretty, but inefficient. I could never flatten the planner out enough to write on the inner portions of the pages. The Simplified Planner is spiral bound so that it lays flat and allows you to see everything all at once.

Oversized pages: Each inner page measures 9 x 11 inches allowing maximum writing space within each of the sections. The planner itself measures about 10 x 12 inches including the cover.

Month and week views: I like to see my week all at once, so each week view features days segmented into AM, LUNCH, PM and DINNER. This is how I think about my day.

Goal, Focus and Heart boxes: On the month view, there are special boxes for a monthly goal, focus and heart note. For instance: (Goal: No cell phones after 5pm at home, Focus: Eat cleaner and drink more water, Heart: Take Brady to the aquarium). The Heart box is my favorite – it’s one random act of kindness or special memory you want to do/create this month.

Back section: Long Term To-Do: There are “to-do” or “notes” sections within each week view, but I always find myself remembering some long term to-do that I have or goal I’d like to make with no place to write it, within this planner there is a space for that. Fill these pages as a reminder of the big plans you’re making.

Back section: Wish List: This is quite funny : ) When I’m asked at the end of the year what I’d like for Christmas, I can NEVER remember. Now I won’t forget! Ok, that’s part of the reason for this section, but really the Wish List is intended to be a place where your family makes goals for future purchases. Perhaps you’d like to save for a new kitchen table (Oh I’m dying for this…) This is the place you’ll make those notes.

Back section: 100 in One Year: This is one of my favorite features of the Simplified Planner. This is a section for you to fill out early in the year with goals big and small. This will become a feature here on this blog with my own 100 in One Year list. Stay tuned.

Back section: Important Numbers: This section is designed simple and clean – without all the extra sections that clutter standard contact lists. Because I keep my friends and family numbers in my iPhone, this is the place I’ll list our tree trimming company, etc – important numbers I wouldn’t necessarily keep in my phone.

I’m so thrilled at the success of these planners. Over 100 have been ordered so far. To purchase your own Simplified Planner, visit the Emily Ley Pop Up Shop.

First of all, I love your work. You are truly an inspiration to me and fire me up! Thank you for sharing your knowledge of both design work and business savvy.

My #1 goal for 2012 is to be more organized – as in plan out dinners and carve out time during the week to clean, etc… This planner will help me reach that goal tremendously and help avoid the nightly “what’s for dinner?” and the marathon cleaning sessions that leave me exhausted.

    • emily commented:

Kristen! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! It means the world to me! This is a wonderful goal! I think I’m going to attempt a few “once a month” cooking tries – freezing meals and eating cleaner. Thank you for sharing! Emily

My New Years Goal professionally is to continue growing my brand and to fully establish my voice + perspective on my blog. I’m totally stealing the 100 in one year idea by the way! Personally, I’d like to finally be at my healthiest in my 30th year of life mentally, physically + spiritually.

    • emily commented:

  13. Maria commented:

    Hi Emily!
I’m following you on twitter @maria_mauti and I’ve shared your give-away with all of my fb friends.

It’s difficult to name just one goal. Most of my annual goals are short term, but I always aim for a short termed goal with long term benefits. That goal would be to remember people. I will be finishing my B.A this year, I will be starting my own real estate business and I will be performing with an orchestra and a regional theater company. With all if that on my plate, my goal is to make sure I pencil in time for the people in my life who mean the most to me. They are the reason I am able to pursue every dream imaginable.

Thanks for the opportunity to share. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings. I know it’s going to be a wonderful year!

    Maria

    • emily commented:

Hi Maria! These are wonderful goals! Congratulations on graduating this year! Sounds like you have a wealth of talents! Your last goal made my heart smile so much. That’s so important and a personal goal of mine too. xo Emily

I have many many new adventures happening in 2012, both professionally and personally, that I am super excited about!! My number one goal is to be able to give wholeheartedly to each one. To really understand your saying, grace not perfection. To really adopt that in my daily walk. To feel successful in each nook of my life.. not giving into the overwhelmed, frustrated and defeated. I want to discover new ways of creating a well-balanced lifestyle, an opportunity to enjoy life, live in the now and really appreciate all that I have!

    • emily commented:

These are beautiful goals, Jessica. I love exactly how you said it – to infuse grace into your every day. I have no doubt 2012 will be your year!! xo Emily

  18. Megan commented:

My #1 New Years Goal for 2012 is to declutter my life by getting my home organized, focus on health + excercise, and to start understanding how to transition into making my dream of being a decorator happen :)

    • emily commented:

I can’t tell you how GOOD it feels to declutter. I need to do more of this next year as well, but just decluttering my office and my house (nesting!) before Brady was born made SUCH a difference in my ability to really focus on him and my husband when he arrived. Sending best wishes to you for an amazing 2012!! xo Emily

My #1 new year’s goal is for my husband and I to buy our first home! These days it’s not as easy as it used to be to qualify for a mortgage, especially for people who own their own businesses. I have faith we’ll be able to and will find the perfect place for us to call home :)

  31. Kimb commented:

My goal is to establish priorities. No. 1 being my family and children. Then figuring out how everything {homeschooling, Church, starting a business, etc} fits in. I want to simplify and organize my life.

    • emily commented:

Identifying #1 is the first step. Everything after that will fit into place if you really hold yourself to that first priority. Granted, we’re still figuring out all of this in my own family – but it’s a daily decision to hold steadfast to priority #1. Excited for you : ) xo Emily

  36. Jennifer Ellison commented:

My number one goal this year is to stop the perfectionism! I tend to (try to, anyway) control everything to be perfect, but with two under two and a husband in the Army, I am usually left frustrated. I don’t want to feel that way anymore and I just want to enjoy life! Not everything has to be perfect to be fun and memorable!

    • emily commented:

I love this! The perfectionism drowns us, doesn’t it. Sending big hugs and prayers your way with such a wonderful family to take care of. Happy 2012! Emily

  44. Lisa commented:

I absolutely love this planner and I know my best friend would too! My New Year’s Resolution is to spend more time cultivating relationships. Life and school get so crazy that it’s hard to justify taking the time to meet up with an old friend for lunch or sit down and write a handwritten letter to my grandma . My goal is to make those little things that are truly important much more of a priority. :)

    • emily commented:

Thank you so much, Lisa! These are wonderful goals! I love that you’re going to write to your Grandma. That’s so special. I miss mine everyday. Happy 2012 to you! Emily

    • emily commented:

Hi Leslie! Ah, that balance is so hard, isn’t it! It’s so great to have a network of friends who are all in the same boat and attempting the same “greatness” : ) Sending you best wishes for a wonderful 2012! Emily

I am so excited about this giveaway! The planner is beautiful! I always spend so much time staring at planners in Target, Walmart, etc. just hoping that a planner that is both functional and beautiful will appear. It never happens!! :)

My #1 goal for 2012 is to take my business to the next level. I started it while I was still in college as a side thing and it hasn’t grown much past that. I would love to work with Making Brands Happen. I am constantly inspired by the brands you produce and would love for my business to be in a position where I could afford to take it to the next level.

Thanks for this giveaway and I’m so excited to own a Simplified Planner – because I will be purchasing one even if I don’t win! In pool blue! :)

My #1 goal for 2012 is to find a perfect balance. I’m in college working on two bachelors’ and a master’s degree, doing education policy research, and have signed up for probably TOO many campus organizations and volunteer opportunities. I love everything I do and everyone in my life, but I want to make sure that this year I give everyone and everything 100% of the love, support, and time they deserve! It’s easy to get caught up in one thing and let others fall by the wayside. Here’s to a new year!

  174. Caroline Joy commented:

I’m getting so fired up reading everyone’s goals! I’ve been mulling over my goals for a while, and I realized my biggest goal isn’t really something to check off, but is more a way of life.

To preface: So many times life doesn’t go as planned, and in the past this has caused me to just melt down into frustration and defeat. No more…I am choosing a healthy perspective this year: Seeing obstacles as opportunities. Focusing on progress not perfection. Embracing GROWTH. Embracing those hard things, because of the greatness they will bring about.

To give you a very personal example, I haven’t booked many weddings for this coming year. But rather than moping and feeling like a failure, I’m realizing this may be my best year yet. I’ll explore my passion in a way I never had time for in the past. I’ll take my time thoughtfully refining my skill and style. I’ll put my heart and soul into styled photography projects that make my heart sing, that get published, that put my name out there, and that inspire others. This year is a chance to see things anew. I would have missed it all if I had simply been focusing on the negative. This year I’m choosing to see the abundance. It may not be easy, but it’s going to be so good!

Thank you for this opportunity Em. Sending so much love your way!

When my daughter discovered the Simplified planner on Pinterest, she sent me a text telling me to look it up right away! She was afraid I would find another planner before looking at this one. It has been a wonderful (and crazy!) first year and I’m so thrilled about all the possibilities on the horizon! My MAIN goal for 2012, though, has nothing to do with business and everything to do with making sure my family is around long enough to enjoy the fruits of my labor. :) We’re going to eat nothing but non-processed foods for 100 days… and then see if we can’t just keep going from there! We need a healthier lifestyle because fast food has become just too easy when we’re both so busy. Bets of luck in 2012 and your planners – well, everything you make! – are just gorgeous!

My number 1 New Year’s goal? To leave behind the limits I put on myself and really show up. To give my all. To my kids, my husband, myself, our amazing God and my business.

I know this might sound corny, but I have lived life thinking I need to be the perfect wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, photographer, student and so on. But, this next year and in the words of someone I truly respect, my #1 goal for 2012 is to live life with grace and NOT perfection. Thank you for the reminder! xoxo

A few nights ago I went through old journals and noticed this awful pattern in my life. I do the same things over and over again and never get anywhere. Well 2012 is my year! These habits are changing and great things are going to happen!

My #1 goal for 2012 is to live each day with intention; to make each moment count. Days fly off of a calendar, but I can rejoice in that because I have planned my time in such a way that no day is wasted.

  228. Jennifer Eileen commented:

Hello Emily! Your planner is darling and oh so useful (at least I imagine it in my daily life being oh so useful as I sit struggling with the digital calendar I use, and forget about, now). For 2012 my number one goal is to develop my successful photography business into a well oiled machine with workflows set, gifts in the closet (for clients), and joy oozing from my pores. 2012 is going to be brilliant!

  229. Zan Maxwell commented:

Just stumbled upon this on Pinterest. The personalized cover caught my eye immediately, so when I saw that there is a contest to win, not one, but TWO of them, well . . . it’s certainly my lucky night! Great content. I can tell you really thought out the design. As my goal this year is almost identical to everyone else’s – get more organized – I definitely need one. Another goal is to read more . . . my Bible, books on the best sellers list, cereal box . . . and expand this Mommy brain of mine!

  230. Aubrey commented:

That planner looks amazing! My goal for 2012 is to work on being the best teacher I can be! I have third graders, and it is a challenge, but I just want to remember to not sweat the small stuff, and just make sure I give them all I can so that they can be successful and happy kiddos! Happy New Year to you!

balance seems to be presenting itself in my goal making for the year. i want balance in my business life and personal life, in my spiritual walk and my self image, in my family and my friendships, as a person…

2012 is going to be a year of learning balance.
